The Laramie High School (LHS) community is grieving after the tragic loss of a student who took his own life on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
The devastating news was confirmed through a social media post, which read, “The Laramie High School community suffered an immense tragedy last night (we are not providing details so please don’t ask us). Although our mission is to support adults during this crisis, we want to open up our services to everyone in the LHS community regardless of age. We are a place of love and support. We do watercolors and pottery and have a writing workshop. Even just a game of UNO. Whatever anyone needs to destress and not feel lost and alone. Come to us. It is why we exist. Please share this information for anyone who might need it. Thanks, everybody. 🙏”
The statement underscores the importance of mental health support for students, teachers, and parents in the wake of such a heartbreaking incident.
Additionally, Laramie High School Volleyball announced a change in their schedule in light of the tragedy, stating, “Due to some unfortunate circumstances, our first open gym will not happen tonight.”
At this time, the identity of the student and further details regarding the incident have been kept private, out of respect for the family and those affected.
The loss has sent shockwaves through the school and local community, prompting a conversation about the importance of mental health awareness and support for students. In response, various local organizations have offered assistance, emphasizing the need for open conversations, emotional support, and access to mental health resources.
