The Horse Rescue Angels Foundation has announced the passing of its esteemed President, Vasilios Bill Sotiropoulos. He lost his courageous battle with cancer and kidney failure, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication to animal welfare.
Bill joined the foundation in 2024 with a heartfelt mission to expand its reach and rescue horses from unnecessary euthanasia and slaughter. His passion for this cause was unmatched, and he worked tirelessly to create a brighter future for the foundation and the animals it serves.
The foundation extended its deepest condolences to Bill’s wife, Dina Lambropoulos, who has also played a significant role in the organization, as well as to his children and family. “We will honor his legacy by continuing his work and keeping his vision alive,” read a statement from the foundation, signed by members Janesse Augot-Short, Valerie Shearman, Sharry Budd, and Roxane De Longo Campbell.
Bill’s impact extended far beyond his work with Horse Rescue Angels. Joanne Colangelo fondly remembered him as “the original thief of hearts” and encouraged others to explore his story through his book, which had recently been released on Amazon. She described him as an inspiration, a man who defied medical odds and faced every challenge with resilience and energy.
A heartfelt tribute from ArtByVasili shared that Bill passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones—his former wife Effie, his two sons, Sarandis and Yianni, and those closest to him. “Billy was a man of unwavering faith, who believed wholeheartedly in God’s plan. He lived his life filled with love, passion, and joy, inspiring all of us with his remarkable spirit,” the message read.
